Review: In the Land of Strangers

In the Land of Strangers is a collection of short stories by Sri Lankan author Zeneefa Zaneer launching on the 14th. There are ten stories in this collection, all of them touching on a different aspect of family and familial issues. Zaneer is a very emotional author, using her stories to appeal to the reader’s feelings and tug on their heartstrings.

My favourite of these ten was Devil’s Gift. It was entertaining while still standing as a warning to readers about the tricks and traps of shaitaan. I also enjoyed reading Nine to Five.

In the Land of Strangers Cover

In the Land of Strangers is a quick read at just 69 pages and it’s definitely worthy of holding your attention for a few hours of leisure time. Well done to Zaneer for tackling issues that are often swept under the rug.

Final rating: 3 stars out of 5.
