So, there have been a lot of things going on recently. I’ve been posting a lot of fiction – I actually wrote 50 000 words over February somehow, Alhamdulilah – but you might have
noticed that I haven’t been replying to comments as quickly, I haven’t been posting blog posts as often, etc.
I’m going to let you all in on a little secret – I have tunnel vision. I find it incredibly difficult to not focus on something so totally that everything else gets left behind. Consistency is one of my weaknesses and it’s something that I’m still in the process of trying to get right.
I do have some (I think, at least) really good projects in the work and I thought it was beyond time to give you all a
quick long update into what’s happening with me.
100 Words a Day
You may know that I’ve been running a 100 Words a Day challenge for a long while now – those mini stories are posted on my Instagram and if you follow me personally on Facebook, you’ll see them on my Story almost every day too. (You can also see them if you scroll down to the widget that shows my most recent Instagram posts, but they are a bit small).
I’m going to be writing a blog post regarding that and my reasons for continuing to do the challenge quite soon In Shaa Allah.
I’ve also combined that challenge with a second one – 12 Short Stories. I’ve been taking the mini stories I write and continuing them into proper little short stories.
Those are only available to my newsletter subscribers so you’ll have to be signed up if you want the latest one in your inbox every month.
Speaking of the newsletter, Feb’s story is late! I’m very sorry, it’s going to be going out this evening In Shaa Allah. It’s been a busy, busy, (busy) time and I somehow managed to neglect it a bit.
Over the past little bit, blog posts have gone from every three days to every week.
There are a couple of reasons for this – I want to try out longer posts, I don’t have the time that I used to, I’ve been writing a lot of fiction recently, and the list goes on.
This is a big change, but I hope that the weekly posts will be even better than the ones you’ve been used to seeing.
Also, please feel free to send me a message or an email – my email is firstname.lastname@example.org if there’s anything you’d like to see me tackle in the future or if you have any comments or concerns. I read everything that’s sent to me (even if I may not always reply as fast as I’d like).
It’s been a while since I reviewed anything but I do have two reviews coming up. I’ve received a free copy of Ayesha Idris’ new book which I’m quite excited about.
The second review is going to be something new. I’m very nervous as I’m going to be doing my very first podcast. The only other time I’ve spoken (and recorded myself) is during the Muslimah Bloggers Summit so it is unfamiliar ground, but I had so much fun with the Summit, I just couldn’t resist.
Look out for that podcast some time near the end of March. If it goes well (In Shaa Allah it will) who knows? I might just keep doing podcasts.
I have a new story coming up soon In Shaa Allah. It’s called Resisting Taqdeer.
I will most likely not be updating anywhere near as often as I updated The Art of Mutual Destruction.
I know it’s a bit disappointing and you all really enjoyed the frequent posts – so did I. But, I am a student and since it’s assignment season, that does have to come first for a while. I will try my very best to update at least once a day but if I can’t, I ask you to please just bear with me.
Now, to end this on a good note – Resisting Taqdeer begins Monday, the 5th of March 2018. Tell all your friends 😉
