I am a hard-core budgeter.
Lies.
I want to be a hard-core budgeter.
Instead, I’m a baby budgeter who generally makes three or four mess ups a month.
I don’t use any kind of software for my budgeting, mostly because all of the many I’ve tried are terrible and just don’t work for me.
I always stick away the cash for known expenses and then portion out the rest of my money every month.
Unfortunately, I find myself borrowing from one portion because the next isn’t balancing out the way it should so my budget is never the same from one month to the next.
I’d love to be the hardcore budgeter who comes i under budget, never mind on target.
But, I need some time to get there.
What’s your favourite budgeting tip?
I want to be a hard-core budgeter too, and I am slowing working at it. Several times a year I write down everything I spend any amount of money on for an entire month. That way I can see if there is any area that I need to dial back on in my spending habits. And, I am able to compare past months to see if there has been any improvements.

Great post. I am also on a budget. My husband and I move, and I quit my job, and we are back to one budget. So sticking to a budget and stretching a dollar is a must for me.

I dont really understand what budgeting means (lol I have a pea brain 😂) But what I did for a time was that if I went into a shop and had the urge to buy chocolate or sweets, I would instead look at the price of the item in question and keep that exact amount of money aside instead of buying the item. Then when I went home I put it in a box and the money in that box I told myself was to buy something I like that’s worthwhile instead of junk food. I managed to save up enough money to buy earphones, a water flask and also clothes lol

That’s a really good idea! And it makes you realize just how often you reach to buy things that you actually can live without if you think about it rather than being impulsive

Indeed, it teaches self restraint!

I think one of the most important lessons my dad taught me is that.. if u cant afford to pay for it fully in cash, don’t buy it! Wait until u can! I know this is not always possible or practical… but Alhamdulillah it’s def served me well.
Oh and also.. invest!
