My Happy Jar

Credit for this idea goes to both Ayesha Desai and Tasneem Basha for without them, I never would have done it.
Yesterday, I sat down and made my very own Happy Jar. It wasn’t very complicated in theory – pen, paper, jar. But then I had to think…

What does make me happy? At first, it was a little tough but then it got easier. A lot easier. And I began to realize that there are a ton of things that make me happy.

And I finished my little project with the biggest grin on my face.

But why do this? Why would you need a ‘Happy Jar’? Isn’t it enough to have the memories in your head?

Well… no. There are times when you’re having a horrible moment or day and you don’t remember the things that make you happy.

On those occasions when you forget, having a little pick-me-up can really help. Even if you don’t end up needing that little pick-me-up, the act of writing down all the things that make you happy is incredibly rewarding and can be really fun 🙂

So get to making your own Happy Jar and share the results with me!

Some of the little notes in here include:

– Beautiful saying and quotes

– Being me. Not always, but sometimes

– Gifts, especially unexpected ones

– Mail. I love getting mail, it all gets saved in my journal

– You, dear reader. You make me incredibly, incredibly happy

  1. I’m a bit of a container hoarder and I was literally just thinking about what I should do with the little jar once I run out of honey, and then I came upon this post! Such an awesome idea, in shaa Allah I will have to try…it can be yet another decoration for my little desk if I make it pretty enough too =D

      1. In shaa Allah will do! So the basic idea is just to write down little things that make you happy, then you can pull one out whenever you are feeling down?
